Egypt or Syria.

A stone paste tile, the interesting design, painted in underglaze black and cobalt-blue on a white ground, is vigorously and freely drawn. The branch with its attendant leaves wrap around a central design depicting abstract plants. In between the foliage, are small precise fish-scale motifs in cobalt-blue.
First half of the 15th century

Condition: Excellent surface, lower two inches missing.
