Damascus. A rectangular stone-paste border tile, painted in shades of underglaze cobalt blue, apple green, turquoise and blue-gray with black outlines on a white ground. A series of undulating pale blue-gray saz leaves containing cloud bands is intertwined with a series of split-leaf palmettes. Second half of 16th century. 5.5 x 10 in. {14 x 25.4 cm.} Uneven. c.f.
