Egypt or Syria. A stone paste squared-off hexagonal tile painted in underglaze cobalt-blue. A Chinese inspired foliate design showing two leaf-like elements on either side of a sweeping upward tendril that terminates in a spray of foliage. All these elements are interspersed with acquatic tendrils. 15th century 5.75 x 7 in. {12.7 x 22.8 cm.} c.f. Petsopoulis, Yanni {Edit}.
