Egypt or Syria.
A square stone paste tile painted in underglaze cobalt blue, sage green and turquoise. A central cusped cartouche contains a floral spray outlined in black nestled in sage green serrated leaves, which is in turn, surrounded by a wreath of white serrated leaves. The whole reserved against a cobalt blue background with rosettes and leaves at the four corners.
16th century.
